Alpha Omega Artisan is a social business with a goal of alleviating poverty for families in Guatemala, one family at a time.  Our guarantee is the 100% of profits will be used, directly, to train, equip, and provide opportunities for artisans to earn a living wage.  Guatemala is a beautiful country with many talented, industrious people working diligently, yet living in poverty.  Here are some sobering statistics.  According to UNICEF, in 2020 49% of people in Guatemala were living in poverty, 43% of children were undernourished and only 5% of children finished high school in the poorest rural communities.  This was before the Covid-19 pandemic, which has severely exacerbated the situation.  Beyond economic opportunities, we want to give the hope and the promise of a brighter future for their children.

In February of 2019 we visited Guatemala for the first time, volunteering for HOPE Worldwide Guatemala.  Guatemala stole our hearts.  We were awed by the majestic volcanoes, delighted by the climate (the land of eternal spring), and more than anything we were inspired by the people and the culture.  Our Guatemalan hosts were warm, loving and joyful even in the midst of scarcity; they treated us like family.  Above all, we were exhilarated by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these talented and hard-working individuals and their communities.  

After connecting with the community in 2019, the dream of creating a company to support their work began to take root.  Alpha Omega Artisan strives to support the promise of a brighter future.  We currently are working with three artisans to produce and sell high quality leather totes, purses and hats made with traditional Guatemalan fabrics, and beautiful ceramic birds.  As we open our on-line store, we thank you for your support.
